Arterial gas embolism (AGE)

A condition caused by gas in the arterial circulatory system originating from lungs. It is often caused by a sudden reduction in ambient pressure, such as a rapid ascent without exhalation. The organ most often affected is the brain; typical signs and symptoms of AGE include rapid onset of stroke-like symptoms within less than 15 minutes after reaching the surface.
